Membership Categories & Dues
ASI membership is available to any Seventh-day Adventist church member in good standing who operates a business, provides a professional service, or operates a supporting ministry. We also welcome students and recent graduates who are just beginning their careers. Members may not receive any salary from any Seventh-day Adventist denominational organization. Only Organizational Non-Profit members may solicit or accept donations. Multilevel marketers are not eligible for membership.
Members of ASI wholeheartedly agree to order their lives and work according to the ASI objectives and principles outlined in the ASI mission and vision statements. Continued membership is contingent upon the member conducting their business or ministry in harmony with Seventh-day Adventist principles and personally remaining in good and regular standing with the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Organizational Non-Profit
Organizational Non-Profit membership shall be held in the name of the organization. An organization may qualify for membership if it has a minimum of two full-time equivalent (FTE) paid employees or volunteers, including the owner/director. It must also have been in operation for at least one year. An owner/director who has been a member of ASI for five years or more and retires or sells the organization may become a Personal member of ASI.
Applicants must submit copies of their
- Articles of Incorporation
- Constitution and Bylaws
- 501[c]3 Determination Letter from the United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS) which recognizes the organization as a tax-exempt charity.
ASI requires all Organizational Non-Profit members to include the following clauses somewhere in their corporate documents:
• A statement of support for the mission and message of the Seventh-day Adventist Church
• A requirement that all board members and officers be baptized Seventh-day Adventists in good standing
• A requirement that the board shall have a minimum of five members, three of whom are unrelated to each other by blood or marriage
• A dissolution clause stating that, in the event the organization ceases to function, any remaining assets will be transferred to another Adventist-owned 501[c]3 organization of the member’s choosing
Organizational For-Profit
Organizational For-Profit membership shall be held in the name of the organization. An organization may qualify for membership if it has a minimum of two full-time equivalent (FTE) paid employees or volunteers, including the owner/director. It must also have been in operation for at least one year. An owner/director who has been a member of ASI for five years or more and retires or sells the organization may become a Personal member of ASI.
Executive Professional
Executive Professional membership is available to managers who have held their positions for at least one year, who have the authority to hire and fire employees, and who supervise a minimum of two FTEs. Examples include executive officers, department managers, and managing physicians employed by nonmember organizations.
Sole Proprietor
Sole Proprietor membership shall be held in the name of the business and is available to owners/operators who employ no one other than themselves. An applicant’s business must have been in continuous operation for a minimum of one year. Examples may include accountants, visual or performing artists, child care providers, and counselors.
Retired Business or Professional
Retired Business or Professional membership is available to individuals who would have been eligible for Organizational, Executive Professional, or Sole Proprietor membership during their active professional lives, but who have retired or sold their businesses. This category is for people who have not previously been members of ASI.
Associate
Associate membership is available to individuals who have a “high level of responsibility” in an organization controlled by someone else, but who are not executives or managers and who do not supervise any other employees. They must have held their positions for at least one year. Examples may include physicians, dentists, attorneys, research scientists, and auditors.
Young Professional
Young Professional membership is available to students or entry-level professionals between the ages of 18 and 35. Young Professional members must transition within three years of becoming eligible for another membership category. Examples include current students, recent graduates beginning their careers, individuals in professional internships or residencies, and young entrepreneurs starting businesses.
Associate International*
Associate International membership is available to non-profit organizations operating outside of the North American Division, in areas where there is no active ASI presence. All requirements for non-profit organizations apply.
*These members do not have voting privileges.
